After a long while, and many complains about Xiaomi not taking the Kenyan market seriously, lately it seems they’re changing, and really pushing the brand locally.
Last month they opened a store at The Hub, Karen. They hadn’t stocked a lot, and most of the stuff they had sold out.
I hope they learnt from that and will be filling up stock for most demanded products. I understand that it is a risk bringing in new products and having people not buy them, but the July 14th launch should have taught them that Kenyans love the brand.
The new Mi Store opens 10th August at the CBD: Giwa House, Moi Avenue. This will be their second store in Kenya.
After the Mi Home opening in Karen, the company behind the Mi Brand in Kenya had promised a store in the CBD, two in Westlands and a Customer Care Service Centre in the CBD to deal with repairs, warranty etc.
Most people, myself included, were disappointed by the lack of many devices during the Karen launch. From a business perspective, it makes sense to not bring everything at once and measure demand. I hope they’ve learnt this and will have more of the most demanded products soon.
I want to see them bring in not just smart home devices, but also their most demanded smartphones including the Redmi K20 Pro, the Mi CC9, and others. I hope they can beat other retailers like Avechi in bringing in the devices, and in pricing.
For those who wanted the Mi TV, Mi Band 4 and the Mi Box S, Action Cameras etc., you can fill in this pre-order Google Form: Link HERE.
