TECNO’s first phone with a pop-up camera, and first phone running Android 10 out of the box have officially been launched. They continue with TECNO’s audacious trends of bringing exciting specifications to the budget segments. The new phones all pack 48MP main shooters at the back, and all come with huge batteries.
I don’t know why TECNO is going with Camon 15. The last we’ve seen from the Camon series is the Camon 12 series. Why the company is jumping straight to Camon 15 is weird. Maybe there will also be a Camon 13, and 14 somewhere in between, but who knows.
Back in January, I had a post saying TECNO’s first phones with a pop-up camera would be launching soon. We can also expect an Infinix phone with the same specs to also be announced soon. These will be the devices for the March-April smartphone launch cycle in the Kenyan market. Huawei, Samsung, TECNO, and Infinix will all be launching new devices.
The two new phones are however only currently available in India. Transsion, the company behind TECNO and Infinix since entering the Indian market has really focused on that market to a point they have exclusive devices for those markets, and exclusive launches there, almost forgetting their roots in Africa. That said, though we know the phones will come to Kenya, we just don’t have exact timelines.
TECNO Camon 15
The Camon 15 packs a quad camera setup with a 48MP main lens. The screen is a 6.55 inch display with a 16MP selfie camera on the punch-hole. The resolution sadly maxes out at 720p. It supports Bluetooth 5.0, runs Android 10 with HIOS skin out of the box, has up to 4GB RAM, 64GB storage, and is powered by a huge 5000mAh battery. It should cost about KES. 14,000 as per my estimates. Color options are Shoal Gold, Fascinating Purple, and Jade.
TECNO Camon 15 PRO
The Camon 15 PRO features the same camera setup as Camon 15 at the back. At the front however you get a 32MP motorized pop-up selfie camera instead of the punch-hole on the Camon 15. With the PRO, you get up to 6GB RAM, and 128GB storage. Sadly, battery size has been reduced here to 4000mAh. Color options are either Ice Jadeite or Opal White. It should cost about KES. 19,000.
Expect full specifications details, and launch announcements in Kenya soon. In India though, the phones will go on sale from February 25th.
