Redmi 9A Alleged Specifications from FCC Listing

The Redmi 8A is currently the best phone I recommend for anyone wanting something below KES. 10,000 (USD 100). The design, the build quality, the cameras, the USB Type-C, the 5000mAh battery, and much more make it so good for its asking price, that it makes the competition from TECNO, Infinix and others look bad. See our review of it embedded below.

The Redmi 9A which is the obvious update to the Redmi 8A is coming sometime soon. From the FCC listing that people are speculating is the Redmi 9A, it appears that the new phone will run MiUI 12, and will have a battery rated at 4900mAh with 18W supported fast charging – However Xiaomi could ship it with a 10W charger.

Another image shows what could be a dual rear camera setup. But give Xiaomi’s previous record with this series, it could still be a single camera like we’ve seen with the Redmi 8A, the Redmi 7A etc. Which isn’t a bad thing, because the Portrait Mode on the Redmi 8A is pretty good even on a single camera. There’s no need to add an extra lens just for the sake.

We could be getting a 6.5-inch phone with the Redmi 9A, with maybe 3GB RAM as standard, and a couple of storage options. We still don’t have information on the processor, the resolutions of the cameras, and of the display, and other things. But those will become available slowly over time as the device is expected at the end of the 3rd quarter.
