Mitsumi Distribution is spearheading the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) into key sectors across Africa and the Middle East, with a particular focus on healthcare. The partnership between Mitsumi Distribution and Dell Technologies has marked a significant milestone in the region’s journey towards becoming a fully AI-enabled player on the global stage. By hosting innovative workshops centered on AI applications within the healthcare industry, Mitsumi is helping to drive AI uptake across diverse economic sectors.
In a groundbreaking move, the first of these workshops brought together key stakeholders from the healthcare sector, including top-tier executives and decision-makers from some of the region’s most prominent hospitals such as Kenyatta National Hospital, Nairobi Hospital, Nairobi West Hospital, and Mater Hospital. The workshop featured a series of presentations and discussions led by Mr. Arshad Farhad, Dell Technologies’ Chief Technology Officer overseeing the Healthcare & Lifesciences sectors in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.
Mr. Farhad presented a comprehensive overview of various AI technologies, with a strong emphasis on Generative AI, which is renowned for its ability to create new content based on the patterns it learns from large datasets. He addressed critical topics such as the essential skill sets needed to leverage AI in healthcare, privacy concerns surrounding the use of AI technologies, and the overarching impact these technologies could potentially have on improving healthcare systems across Africa. “The purpose of AI is to enhance the capabilities of clinicians and improve clinical outcomes, rather than supplanting them,” Mr. Farhad emphasized, highlighting AI’s role as a supportive tool rather than a replacement for human expertise.
Mr. Rajveer Shah, Director at Mitsumi Distribution, affirmed the company’s commitment to utilising AI as a transformative force across various sectors in Africa. “Mitsumi Distribution is dedicated to harnessing AI to drive transformation in healthcare, financial services, governance, public services, and more,” Mr. Shah stated. He also mentioned Mitsumi’s strategic focus on bolstering Africa’s AI capabilities through significant investments in recruiting skilled data scientists and engineers from around the world, thus solidifying its commitment to fostering an AI-enabled society.
The workshop generated substantial interest among the healthcare representatives present, who recognised AI’s capacity to enhance disease detection, optimise hospital processes, and elevate the standard of patient care. This acknowledgment underscores the critical role that AI can play in not only enhancing operational efficiencies but also in improving patient outcomes across the healthcare industry.
Mitsumi Distribution, through its dedicated AI initiative, continues to demonstrate its leadership in bringing African industries up to global standards. By forging strategic partnerships with leading global technology solution and service providers, Mitsumi is positioning itself as a pivotal player in the region’s technological advancement and digital transformation efforts. This initiative not only highlights Mitsumi’s role in the technological ecosystem but also its commitment to impacting society positively by enhancing the capabilities of industries to serve their communities better.
