Infinix Watch 1 Review: Worth Your Money?

The Infinix Watch 1 sports a 1.83-inch IPS display encased in an aluminium alloy body, offering a sleek look. The watch’s design is quite similar to the square watches in the market. I think it looks really good – the hardware and the white straps which are easily interchangeable. The IP68 rating ensures it can withstand dust, dirt, and sand, making it suitable for everyday wear and light water activities.

Infinix Watch 1 Display:

The display, with a resolution of 240×280, is adequate for most tasks. It is quite washed out, with the graphics not being at par with more expensive smartwatch competitors. However, at its price point, and for what it offers, it is what we would call serviceable. You will be able to use it outdoors, with a little struggles because contrast and colour from an affordable IPS affordable panel can’t be compared to say an AMOLED panel.

Connectivity and Compatibility:

The Watch 1 pairs seamlessly via Bluetooth and is compatible with the Transsion My Health app, which presents health data and insights gathered by the watch. This includes metrics like steps, calories burned, workout durations, and sleep quality among others. The Watch 1 also supports notification syncing from smartphones, which keeps users connected without constantly needing to reach for their phone.

Health and Fitness Tracking

The health monitoring features are comprehensive for a watch in this budget segment. It includes heart rate monitoring, sleep tracking, and blood oxygen measurement. These features are increasingly common but remain important for users interested in maintaining an overview of their health metrics. Additionally, the watch offers 120+ sports modes, providing a wide array of options for those with diverse fitness routines, ensuring that almost every type of activity is trackable.

Battery Life and Charging

Battery performance on the Infinix Watch 1 is okay, it just takes forever to charge it to 100%. The 270mAh battery can last a couple of days on a single charge, depending on usage patterns, which is standard for modern smartwatches. However, the watch is let down by its charging speed, requiring about 2.5 hours to charge fully, which is slow compared to some competitors that offer faster charging solutions.

Additional Features

The Infinix Watch 1 is packed with extra functionalities that enhance user convenience. Features such as smart alarms, camera control, and Bluetooth calling add significant value, extending the watch’s utility beyond simple health and fitness tracking. The inclusion of a calculator, some games, and the ability to add stuff like QR code for quicker scanning might seem like minor additions, but they do contribute to the overall utility of the device, making it more versatile in everyday scenarios.

User Interface and Experience

The user interface of the Infinix Watch 1 is straightforward, allowing navigation through settings, notifications, and health metrics. It supports media playback controls from the connected phone, which is a handy feature. However, the software experience is not particularly exciting. It serves the purpose but lacks the polish and additional features found in more expensive models. The interface might feel underwhelming to those used to more sophisticated operating systems on other smartwatches.

Conclusion

The Infinix Watch 1 stands out in the budget segment by offering a solid array of features at a very affordable price point of KES 2,500. It’s well-suited for users new to smartwatches or those who need a basic device that covers all fundamental aspects of health and connectivity.

However, the watch is not without its shortcomings. The slow charging time can be a significant inconvenience for users who are often in a hurry, and the quality of the IPS display might disappoint those accustomed to sharper, more vibrant screens. Furthermore, the software, while functional, does not offer much in terms of engagement or unique features, which might detract from the overall user experience for some.

In summary, the Infinix Watch 1 offers good value for its price but comes with compromises typical of budget devices. It’s a fitting choice for casual users but may not satisfy the needs of more demanding users or users who’ve interacted with more expensive smartwatches.
