Safaricom M-Pesa and MySafaricom Apps Currently Down

Safaricom has informed its customers in Kenya of a temporary outage affecting both the M-Pesa and MySafaricom apps. In a text message sent out today, the telecom provider acknowledged the issue and advised customers to utilize alternative methods to access its services.

The message read: “Dear Customer, M-Pesa and My Safaricom apps are unavailable. Kindly use *334# or SIM TOOL KIT as we work to restore the services.”

This outage impacts millions of Safaricom users who rely on the apps for mobile money transactions, mini apps, airtime purchases, and other essential services. While the cause of the disruption remains unclear, Safaricom has urged users to switch to USSD (*334#) or the SIM toolkit to carry out their transactions.

The company has not provided a specific timeline for when the services will be restored but assured customers that efforts are underway to resolve the issue. The outage comes at a time when many Kenyans are heavily dependent on M-Pesa for daily financial activities, making the interruption particularly inconvenient for users.
