Central Bank of Kenya Opens Applications for 2025 Internship Program

The Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) has officially announced the opening of applications for its 2025 Internship Program, offering a valuable opportunity for recent graduates to gain real-world experience in Kenya’s banking and financial sector.

The program is part of CBK’s commitment to developing young talent and fostering a strong financial ecosystem. It runs for one (1) year, after which participants are released to pursue broader job opportunities with the benefit of practical exposure and professional development.

Internship Objective

According to CBK, the goal of the Internship Program is to equip young Kenyans with relevant skills and knowledge that will enhance their employability in the financial sector. Successful interns will gain hands-on workplace experience, refine their career goals, and build essential professional networks.

Who Can Apply?

To be eligible for the program, applicants must:

  • Hold a first degree from a recognized university in disciplines such as Finance, Economics, Statistics, Banking, Accounting, Micro-Finance, Human Resources, Management, Social Sciences, Information Technology, Communications, or a related field.
  • Alternatively, applicants with a master’s degree in a relevant field are welcome.
  • Be Kenyan citizens aged between 21 and 29 years.
  • Have graduated within the last 24 months as of the application deadline (May 16, 2025).
  • Provide a recommendation or reference letter from their university.
  • Must not have participated in another internship or gained related work experience after graduation.
  • Have valid medical insurance coverage from either the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) or another reputable provider for the full internship duration.

The Central Bank emphasizes that applicants must:

  • Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Be focused, dynamic, self-motivated, and passionate.
  • Demonstrate problem-solving abilities and a customer-centric mindset.
  • Exhibit high integrity and professionalism.
  • Be computer proficient.
  • Work effectively in a diverse team.

How to Apply

Interested candidates should submit their applications online through Eagle HR Consultants’ website or by scanning the QR code provided in the official announcement. Applicants are required to upload academic certificates, transcripts, and a recommendation letter from their learning institution.

Deadline: All applications must be submitted on or before May 16, 2025. Late or incomplete applications will not be considered.

Important Notes for Applicants

  • Completion of the internship does not guarantee employment at CBK. However, successful interns are eligible to apply for future vacancies at the Bank.
  • Participants are expected to complete the full one-year term without interruption.
  • Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
  • Canvassing will lead to disqualification.

CBK stresses that the program is open to all qualified individuals and strongly encourages applications from women, persons living with disabilities, and candidates from marginalized communities.
