With the Ministry of Education officially releasing the 2025 Kenya Junior School Education Assessment (KJSEA) results, thousands of parents and learners are now heading online to access their scores. As expected, traffic to the KNEC results portal has surged, and interest in how to check both KJSEA and KPSEA results has dominated search trends across Kenya.
If you’re trying to log in, find the correct link, access Grade 9 results, or confirm Senior School placement, this guide breaks everything down for you.
Let’s begin with the steps.
How to check KJSEA results online
The Ministry has provided a dedicated online portal for all learners. This is the fastest and most reliable way to retrieve the assessment results.

1. Visit the official KJSEA results portal
Go to: https://kjsea.knec.ac.ke/
This is the only working domain for accessing KJSEA results. The system is designed to handle nationwide traffic, though slight delays may occur during peak hours.
2. Enter the Assessment Number
This is the unique identifier assigned at registration for the 2025 KJSEA.
3. Input any one of the learner’s registered names
This step helps the system match the details accurately.
4. Submit to view the results
The results load instantly once validated.
This online process covers everything parents are searching for today, be it how to access the KJSEA results, how to check them online, and where the official KNEC link lives, but without the confusion of unnecessary redirects or unofficial pages.
How to check KJSEA results via SMS
The Ministry has also kept a text-based option active for households without internet access or stable connectivity.
To receive results via SMS:
Send the learner’s Assessment Number to 22263
- Works across all major mobile operators
- Charges a flat KES 30 per request
- Returns the full KJSEA result summary
This is also the same method used for families checking KPSEA or previous KNEC assessments.
How to confirm Senior School placement
Alongside the release of results, the Ministry activated a second portal for school placements.

Check placement here:
https://selection.education.go.ke/my-selections
Enter the Assessment Number to view assigned Senior School pathways and institutions.
The SMS method is also supported:
- Send the Assessment Number to 22263
- You will receive the placement details in reply
What the Ministry announced today
Speaking during the release ceremony, Education CS Julius Migos Ogamba confirmed that:
- 1,130,459 learners sat the 2025 KJSEA
- All candidates will transition to Senior School across the CBC pathways
- Placement begins next week and concludes by December 20, 2025
- Students are expected to report on January 12, 2026
Ogamba emphasized that the country has enough capacity to accommodate all learners across the 9,540 Senior School institutions thanks to the nearly 1M students who recently completed KCSE, though readiness levels vary.
Understanding the KJSEA grading system
KNEC CEO David Njengere outlined how the 2025 grades were computed. Each subject is scored on an 8-point scale, grouped by competency levels:
- Exceeding Expectation
- Meeting Expectation
- Approaching Expectation
- Below Expectation
The final score blends:
- School-based assessments from Grade 7
- KPSEA performance reports
- Grade 9 project work
- November’s summative exams
This continuous assessment model aligns with the CBC’s emphasis on strengths, aptitudes, and learner progression — not traditional ranking.
Concerns around the Senior School transition
While the Ministry has insisted on 100% transition, there are several concerns:
- Inadequate ICT labs, particularly for STEM pathways
- Shortages of chemicals, burners, microscopes, and other equipment
- Limited sports fields for Arts & Sports Science
- Delays in textbook distribution, with some schools receiving only English books
- Incomplete Home Science facilities
Basic Education PS Julius Bitok, however, maintains that available capacity, including classrooms vacated by outgoing KCSE candidates, will support all placements.
So, whether you prefer the online KJSEA portal, the SMS route, or the placement platform, the Ministry has now activated all systems required to access results. The process is straightforward, mobile-friendly, and aligned with the trend toward digitised services in Kenya.
