Xiaomi has started rolling out the stable Android 17-based HyperOS 3 update to the Xiaomi 17 Ultra in Europe, marking one of the first public deployments of the company’s latest Android release.
I recently came across reports from a European user who has received the update, and the shared screenshots tell the full story. They show the device moving from an older HyperOS build to a brand-new Android 17 release, complete with a newer security patch.
Before the upgrade, the Xiaomi 17 Ultra was running HyperOS 3.0.303.0.WPAEUXM.C07, which included the May 2026 Android security patch. The new update takes the phone to HyperOS 3.0.332.0.XPAEUXM, a sizeable 9.6GB download that upgrades the device from Android 16 (W) to Android 17 (X) while also bumping the security patch to June 2026.
The official changelog remains fairly concise. Xiaomi says the update improves system stability and the overall user experience, while the newer June security patch enhances system security. As expected with a major Android upgrade for any Xiaomi device, there isn’t much emphasis on new user-facing features. These will come with the company’s next major HyperOS 4 update.

That’s not necessarily a bad thing. Major Android releases often prioritize changes beneath the surface, including framework improvements, better app compatibility, performance optimizations, and stronger security. Xiaomi appears to be taking that same approach with the initial HyperOS 3 rollout, focusing on a solid foundation before introducing additional features in future updates.

One notable detail is that this appears to be a stable public rollout rather than a limited beta or Mi Pilot release. That suggests Xiaomi is confident enough in the software to begin distributing it more broadly, although as with most OTA releases, it may still take several days to reach every eligible device across Europe. While unconfirmed, the global versions of the Xiaomi 17 and 17 Ultra should also pick up this update sooner than later.
If the update has appeared on your Xiaomi 17 Ultra, it’s worth preparing before hitting the install button. At 9.6GB, this is a substantial system upgrade rather than a routine monthly patch. I’d recommend connecting to Wi-Fi, ensuring you have sufficient free storage, backing up any important files, and keeping the battery adequately charged before beginning the installation.
For Xiaomi 17 series owners, this rollout signals that Android 17 has officially started making its way to Xiaomi’s latest flagship, with the June 2026 security patch arriving as part of the package rather than as a separate update.
