Rockstar Games has published a statement about the Grand Theft Auto VI footage that has been circulating since 18 August. It called the leaks “heartbreaking for our team”, apologised for how long the game has taken, and confirmed two things: the extended look still airs on tomorrow, Thursday 27 August, and the release date is still 19 November 2026.
Grand Theft Auto VI is Rockstar’s first Grand Theft Auto since 2013. It follows Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos across Leonida, a fictional state modelled on Florida. It launches on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and Series S.
The statement does not say how the footage got out, how much of it exists, or whether anything else was taken.
What leaked
From 18 August, an account using the name Cyberleek posted gameplay clips and images of the map. Engadget reported that Rockstar was sending copyright takedown notices to people sharing them. The account calls this a protest against the game shipping without a disc, since boxed copies contain only a download code.
Take-Two Interactive, which owns Rockstar, filed copyright subpoenas on 21 August asking Microsoft and Discord to identify the account holder, then filed against Google and X.

When to watch, and what it costs
Rockstar says the extended look premieres on Netflix at 3pm Eastern Time on Thursday, which is 10pm in Kenya. It will be up for free on Rockstar’s YouTube channel six hours later, at 4am on Friday.
GTA VI’s Standard Edition is $79.99 and the Ultimate Edition is $99.99. That is roughly KES 10,400 and KES 12,900 respectively.
Worth noting though: Kenya is not on PlayStation’s country selector, so Kenyan PS5 owners buy digital games through accounts registered elsewhere. With no disc, that is now the only route. Consoles were never cheap here either, as we said when PS5 and Xbox prices in Kenya first went haywire.
