OPPO will launch ColorOS 17 in September with the Find X10 series in China. There is no exact date yet.
ColorOS is OPPO’s version of Android: the launcher, the settings, the camera app, the notification shade, and every animation in between. ColorOS 17 is built on Android 17, and it matters more than usual this year, because it is also the version that becomes the software on OnePlus and realme phones after OPPO retired OxygenOS and realme UI, which we covered in July.
Glassy, floaty and bouncy
Navigation stops being a bar welded to the bottom of the screen and becomes a capsule that floats above your content, and OPPO says it runs through almost every built-in app.

The other two changes are about feel, which is the hardest thing to write about and the easiest thing to notice.
Fluid Fusion is OPPO’s new animation engine. Instead of every swipe playing the same recorded animation at the same speed, the motion follows your finger. You drag or flick, the element deforms, friction slows it down, and it bounces when it settles. The Flexible Feedback System is the visible half of that: elements stretch when you pull them, squash when you push, and spring back when you let go. Nothing new appears on your screen. Everything already on it just answers you.

About that “no redesign” promise
Here is the fun part: On 11 June, ColorOS design director Chen Xi wrote on Weibo that ColorOS 17 would focus on the basics, would not include a big redesign, and would not copy Apple’s Liquid Glass. Then the beta launched with frosted glass everywhere: a glow around element edges, progressive blur behind overlays, circular Control Centre toggles, three lock screen clock fonts, floating widgets, light where you touch, and a new charging animation with a sound to match.
OPPO’s update is definitely glass. But it is glow and blur rather than the refraction Apple shipped in iOS 26. And it all descends from OPPO’s own Aquamorphic Design more than from anything Cupertino has done. Two companies have had a vision for the same feeling and are landing each somewhere different. That is good for competition.
Which phones, and when
Five phones are on the closed beta that opened on 6 August: the Find X9 Pro, Reno15 Pro, OnePlus 15, OnePlus 15R and realme GT 8 Pro. OPPO calls that build highly unstable. The stable version will arive with the Find X10 in China.
If you’re in Kenya, or the rest of the world, the waiting now begins. OPPO has published no rollout schedule outside China. Its August ColorOS 16 update reached 13 Find and Reno phones and skipped the A-series entirely, which is what most people here buy.
