Spotify Wrapped 2023 Kenya; Wakadinali Top Streamed Artists

Spotify Wrapped 2023 is out now. You can now access your top played songs, shows, and podcasts in a very well-presented manner with data including minutes you’ve spent on the app and more. This year has been significant for the Kenyan music scene, with notable events like Sauti Sol’s hiatus and Gengetone’s recognition for Grammy consideration. Spotify’s annual review reveals the most streamed songs, artists, and albums in Kenya, highlighting the vibrant and evolving musical tastes of the region.

Wakadinali, a Kenyan group, stands out as the only local artist in the overall top streamed list, ranking at number 8 and also being the most searched artist in Kenya on Spotify. Their album “Ndani ya Cockpit 3” is the 10th most streamed album. Nyashinski’s “Perfect Design” was particularly popular, being the top song from October 26 to November 2. Afrobeats dominated the top streamed tracks list, with Darassa and Bien’s “No Body” being a notable exception at sixth place.

In terms of viral tracks, Kinoti’s “Nitangoja” and “Sasa Hivi” by V-Be and Ashley Music gained significant attention. Among the most exported Kenyan artists, Karun, Nikita Kering’, and Xenia Manasseh made it to the top ten, with Nikita Kering’ being the only female artist in the top ten most streamed Kenyan artists.

The top streamed artists in Kenya include global names like Drake, Burna Boy, and 21 Savage, alongside local talents such as Sauti Sol, Bien, and Bensoul. The most streamed tracks reflect a blend of international and Kenyan music, with Ayra Starr’s “Rush” leading the list. The album “Love, Damini” by Burna Boy topped the album list.

In terms of Kenyan tracks, Sauti Sol’s “Lil Mama” and Bien’s “Inauma” were among the most popular. Podcasts also saw a surge in popularity, with “So This Is Love,” “The Messy In Between,” and “It’s Related, I Promise” being the top streamed podcasts in Kenya. These insights into Kenya’s listening habits showcase the diverse and dynamic nature of the country’s music scene, reflecting both local and international influences.
