Cubot Note S Vs Wiko Slide 2; Which is better?

Now that we have the new best smartphone under 10k, which happens to be the Cubot Note S (Update: read full review here), let us compare it to two devices; First to the Wiko Slide 2, and then to the old Infinix Hot Note X551. Not to the new Infinix Note 2 because of price range.

So this is the first post. Comparing it to the Wiko Slide 2.

I did a full review of the Wiko Slide 2 and lauded the company for doing a good job. I especially loved how the phone gave you an experience and remember saying experience is everything. Back then, when writing the review, I didn’t expect something better to show up. But it is now a fact that the Cubot Note S beats, and by far, the Wiko Slide 2.

Battery:

The Wiko Slide 2 boasts of a 2820 mAh battery which is not small. I didn’t however like battery life while using the device.

On the other hand, the Cubot Note S boasts a HUGE 4150 mAh battery. At Ksh, 8,888 this is incredible! Remember how we were over the roof with Infinix X551’s 4000 mAh? I wonder what an extra 150 mAh will do to us.

Both phones don’t support fast charging.

Display:

Both phones are similar in size and resolution: 5.5 inches, 720p and a pixel density of about 273 ppi. But the Cubot employs a technology described as “2.5 display”.

2.5D refers to a slight curvature at the edge of the glass display, also known as a contoured edge. While not an official name for any piece of technology, it is widely used to reference this type of display design. You might not even really be able to notice it on some handsets, but on devices where the glass sits atop the rest of the body, rather than being secured behind a slightly raised bezel, you’ll certainly appreciate the more seamless edge. – Android Authority

RAM, Processor & Storage:

The Wiko Slide has 2GB RAM, 1.4GHz Octa Core Processor and 16GB internal storage. Very impressive for Ksh. 9,990, right?

Well the Cubot Note S has 2GB RAM, 1.3GHz Quad Core Processor, 16GB internal and all for Ksh. 8,888.

Both run Android Lollipop 5.1.

Cameras:

On paper, the Wiko Slide 2 beats the Cubot Note S on cameras. The Slide 2 has a 13MP back camera and a 5MP front camera while the Note S has an 8MP back camera and a 5MP front.

But, from checking out Mobitrends review, the Cubot seems to beat the Wiko in performance. I totally hated Wiko Slide 2’s back camera. It was blurred and almost horrible. The Wiko Camera will not be something you’d want to call 13MP in front of people.

Design:

Well people have different tastes. So whichever design suits you between the two go for it. Here’s the Wiko Slide 2:

I loved the back of the Slide 2.

I am yet to touch the Note S. It looks like a very normal phone to me though. Nothing so amazing from the Cubot design.

Opinion:

The Wiko Slide 2 is a good phone. But it suddenly feels a little bit expensive.

What would be my pick between the two? I’d go for the Cubot Note S. And that may be because I’ve already used the Slide 2 and just need to test something new.
