TECNO Spark 4 vs Infinix HOT 8; Which one to go for?

Spark 4:

TECNO Spark 4 Unboxing

The TECNO Spark 4 costs KES. 11,999 for 2GB RAM, 32GB storage, and a 4000mAh battery. The device comes with a 6.5 inch HD display, a triple camera setup, an 8MP selfie camera, and Android 9 Pie. There’s also a Spark 4 Air that’s yet to be available that comes with only 16GB storage.

I have a couple of articles about the Spark 4:

HOT 8:

Infinix HOT 8 Review

The Infinix HOT 8 pushes things to the next level with both pricing, and battery life. It has the same triple camera setup, runs the same version of Android, features the same processor as the Spark 4, and also comes with the same RAM and storage as the Spark 4. The difference though is it only costs KES. 10,999, but packs a large 5000mAh battery.

Which one to go with?

Between the two, it is almost obvious that whichever device you go with, you’re getting the same experience in terms of performance, and somewhat in terms of cameras.

However, there’s a big difference in battery. The HOT 8 has a 5000mAh battery, while the Spark 4 has a 4000mAh battery. With the same processor, almost same screen size, and almost same software (give XOS and HiOS are nowadays almost 100% similar), you can be sure the HOT 8 will last longer, and it does.

Both don’t have USB type-C and both don’t have fast charging.

Given that the HOT 8 is much cheaper, that would be everyone’s obvious choice, including mine. However, given I’ve used both I think you should know a couple of things:

  • I love the HOT 8’s long battery life. But it takes forever to charge to 100%.
  • I love the Spark 4’s cameras, I think they take better pics than the HOT 8’s.
  • I find HiOS on TECNOs to be more visually appealing than XOS on Infinix’s. However both have annoying ads, and unwanted apps.
  • The TECNO feels lighter than the HOT 8 in weight.

I would go with the HOT 8 though, because more battery for less money. Which one would you choose?
