Orange and Spotify have embarked on a strategic partnership to transform the music streaming experience for millions of mobile users across Africa and the Middle East. This collaboration is set to launch in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Madagascar, Mali, and soon in Guinea, allowing Orange customers to access Spotify’s vast music library for free when they subscribe to certain mobile offers.
Orange, a major telecommunications operator active in 18 countries across Africa and the Middle East, has joined forces with Spotify, the global leader in music streaming. Spotify, known for its extensive community of over 551 million monthly active listeners, including 220 million subscribers, offers an expansive catalog featuring over 82 million tracks. This includes a rich assortment of African and international artists, giving users the freedom to create personalized playlists and enjoy a diverse range of music.
Jocelyne Muhutu-Remy, Managing Director for Spotify in Sub-Saharan Africa, expressed excitement over the partnership, highlighting its significance in addressing the challenge of data costs for streaming music. The initiative aims to provide data bonuses to customers in the participating countries, making it easier for them to enjoy Spotify’s extensive library of over 100 million songs without data constraints.
