More than 150 local and international exhibitors are gearing up to participate in the upcoming Propak East Africa 2025 expo, set to take place from 20th to 22nd May at the Sarit Expo Centre in Nairobi. The announcement, which was made on 30th April 2025, marks a renewed focus on sustainable packaging, printing, and food processing solutions in response to the mounting climate and waste crisis.
Unwrapping the Future: Eco-Conscious Industry Players to Converge
Under the theme “Unwrapping the Future,” this year’s event will highlight environmentally responsible technologies across the packaging, printing, plastics, beverage, and food processing industries. The showcase will spotlight innovations designed to reduce environmental impact and promote circular economies, a topic of urgent relevance in Kenya and across the globe.
Angela Kinyua, Managing Director at Montgomery Group East Africa, which is organizing the event, said this year’s edition promises to be bigger and more impactful than before.
“Some of the products that will be showcased are going to be game changers in their respective industries,” she said. “We invite all stakeholders to register and attend.”
Urgent Shift to Greener Alternatives
Kinyua emphasized that alternatives to current polluting materials already exist, but awareness and adoption remain low.
“If you look around, you’ll notice many of the materials currently in use can be replaced with affordable, high-quality, and eco-friendly alternatives. The solutions exist—it’s now about creating awareness and driving action.”
This aligns with global warnings about escalating waste. According to the World Bank’s What a Waste 2.0 report, the world generates more than 2 billion tonnes of municipal solid waste annually, a figure expected to rise to 3.4 billion tonnes in the coming decades if unchecked. In Kenya alone, NEMA estimates that 8 million tonnes of waste are generated annually, much of which ends up in illegal dumpsites or pollutes waterways.
Key Exhibitors and Innovations Expected
Some of the notable exhibitors confirmed for Propak 2025 include:
- Tetra Pak
- Krones
- Uchumi Quick Suppliers
- Wichmann Systems
- Digital Packaging Innovations (DPI)
- Filmatic
- FC Group
- Skyland Masterbatch
- Nilpeter & Bobst/Multigraph
These companies will present live demonstrations of next-gen packaging materials, smart printing technologies, and sustainable food processing equipment – all aimed at minimizing the region’s packaging-related footprint.
A Platform for Change
Propak East Africa 2025 aims not just to exhibit innovation but to foster meaningful dialogue and action around environmental stewardship. With global and regional stakeholders in attendance, the event provides an important platform for industry-wide transformation toward sustainability.
