East Africa Shines in Go Healthy with Taiwan 2025 Campaign: Kenya leads with 54 proposals as Taiwanโ€™s global wellness initiative gains momentum

Following its highly anticipated launch earlier this year, Taiwanโ€™s flagship wellness initiative โ€“ the 2025 Go Healthy with Taiwan campaign, has rapidly gained global traction, with East Africa emerging as one of the strongest contributors. Spearheaded by the Taiwan International Trade Administration (TITA) under the Ministry of Economic Affairs and executed by the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA), the campaign aims to bring Taiwanese health innovations closer to communities worldwide, underscoring cross-border collaboration for healthier living.

In East Africa, participation has been particularly robust. Kenya topped the region with 54 proposals submitted, of which 53 were accepted. Rwanda followed with 13 accepted proposals, Uganda with 12 submissions and 10 accepted, and Tanzania with 7 submissions, 6 accepted. Submissions came from a diverse pool of public institutions, enterprises, SMEs, and government organizations, reflecting interest across three strategic sectors: fitness and sports technology, cycling, and smart healthcare.

Michael Lin, Director of the Taiwan Trade Center in Nairobi, highlighted the milestone:

โ€œThe remarkable response from East Africa โ€“ with a total of 86 proposals submitted and 82 accepted โ€“ truly highlights the regionโ€™s strong commitment to Taiwanโ€™s vision of global wellness. This overwhelming participation demonstrates the shared determination to harness innovation for healthier communities.โ€

Participants will learn the status of their submissions during the week of October 6โ€“10, 2025, when the semifinal shortlist of 20 outstanding proposals will be announced. From there, six finalists will advance, with the top three winning cash prizes worth US$30,000 in total, while all six will secure coveted invitations to Taiwanโ€™s exclusive Go Healthy Tour โ€“ an immersive showcase of the islandโ€™s dynamic health-tech ecosystem featuring hands-on demonstrations, site visits, and networking opportunities with leading innovators.

Building on the success of last yearโ€™s Go Green with Taiwan initiative, which attracted 396 submissions from 45 countries, this yearโ€™s Go Healthy with Taiwan campaign is on track to surpass its goal of 500 global submissions. The enthusiastic response from East Africa further reinforces Taiwanโ€™s mission of fostering healthier living through innovation, proving that sharing technology across borders can drive tangible improvements in well-being.
