Samsung’s next major software update, One UI 9 based on Android 17, is steadily moving closer to more Galaxy devices.
After completing the rollout of One UI 8.5 based on Android 16 QPR2 across eligible smartphones and tablets, Samsung has now begun internal development of One UI 9.0 for the Galaxy A35 and Galaxy A07, according to newly discovered firmware files on the company’s servers.
For the Galaxy A35, a firmware build carrying version A356EXXU9EZF1 has been spotted. Based on Samsung’s firmware naming conventions, the build appears to belong to the upcoming One UI 9 release, indicating that development is already underway.
The same is true for the Galaxy A07 4G. A separate firmware build, A075FXXU5DZF7, has surfaced on Samsung’s servers in Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, and the Philippines, suggesting that testing for One UI 9 has started on one of Samsung’s most affordable smartphones.

The development follows earlier reports that Samsung had already begun work on One UI 9 for devices such as the Galaxy S25, Galaxy A57, Galaxy A34, and Galaxy A17 5G. The company now appears to be expanding testing across its lineup much earlier than usual.
What’s particularly notable is the Galaxy A07 4G’s inclusion. While the phone remains within its promised software support window, it’s still one of Samsung’s most budget-oriented devices. Seeing One UI 9 development begin this early underscores how important Samsung’s entry-level A0x series remains to the company’s global smartphone strategy. The move is less surprising when viewed through the lens of sales volume. Samsung’s affordable Galaxy A-series devices consistently rank among the world’s best-selling smartphones, making timely software development a priority even for lower-cost models.

One UI 9 is based on Android 17 and succeeds One UI 8.5. Compared to the current release, Samsung is introducing additional customization options, interface refinements, and new Android 17 features. We explored some of the key differences earlier in our One UI 8.5 vs One UI 9 comparison.
Samsung officially unveiled One UI 9 last month and has already opened public beta testing for the Galaxy S26 series. The stable release is expected to debut next month alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Flip 8 before gradually rolling out to older eligible devices.
For Galaxy A35 and Galaxy A07 4G owners, today’s discovery doesn’t reveal a release date, but it does confirm that Samsung is already laying the groundwork for Android 17.
