KFC is bringing Kentucky Town to Kenya as Kentucky Town 254. It’s a short-run menu with events built around it, and it started in South Africa in 2021. From Tuesday 20th October 2026 to Sunday 15th November, selected KFC restaurants will sell seven new items built on food Kenyans already eat, and four Nairobi malls will host weekend pop-ups. Kuku Foods East Africa, which runs KFC in Kenya under a franchise, announced it on 12th October. It’s the first edition in East Africa.
The way in is a receipt. Anyone who buys a Kentucky Town meal “at a participating KFC restaurant” can use it to get into any of the pop-ups. That wording points to the counter. KFC also sells through its own app and website and through delivery apps, and it hasn’t said whether those orders count.
How you can order KFC in Kenya
Besides the counter, there’s kfc.ke and the KFC Kenya app, which has been on the App Store since 4th June 2024 and has passed 1,000 downloads on Google Play. Then there are aggregators, delivery apps such as Glovo and Uber Eats that list many restaurants and deliver for them. KFC’s Langata branch alone shows more than 20,000 ratings on Uber Eats. Glovo and Uber Eats could soon have one owner, if Uber’s deal to buy Glovo’s parent company, which we covered in July, goes through.
KFC didn’t build its app. The developer on both stores is OmniOrder Africa Ltd, which also publishes KFC’s apps for Uganda, Rwanda and Ghana, and kfc.ke runs on the same OmniOrder system. OmniOrder says it builds restaurant ordering apps and software that pulls delivery-app orders into one dashboard. The Kenyan app was updated this week, on 8th October on Android and on announcement day on iPhone. The iPhone update added live order tracking and sign-in codes by WhatsApp or SMS. Its notes don’t mention Kentucky Town.
KFC hasn’t said whether the new menu will be on the app, kfc.ke, Glovo or Uber Eats, whether the digital receipt from an app order works at the pop-up, or whether one receipt covers a group. Until it does, a receipt from a participating restaurant is the only one the release clearly accepts.
What’s on the menu
The items are The Colonel’s Mandazi Burger, The Colonel’s Mandazi Pops, The Kentucky Choma Burger, Samosa Crunch, Catch These Masala Fries, and two Krushers (KFC’s blended frozen drinks) called Birthday Cake and One in a Melon. Mandazi is the sweet fried dough sold with chai across East Africa, choma means grilled, and masala chips are fries tossed in a spiced tomato sauce. KFC’s launch poster, which it says is for illustration, shows the Mandazi Burger as a crispy chicken fillet in a golden, mandazi-style bun, and the Choma Burger in a black bun.
There are no prices yet. For scale, a Legend Burger meal at KFC Langata costs KES 950 on Uber Eats.
Where and when the pop-ups run
| Dates | Mall | Where in the mall |
|---|---|---|
| Friday 23rd to Sunday 25th October | The Junction Mall | Ground-floor courtyard |
| Friday 30th October to Sunday 1st November | Galleria Shopping Mall | Parking area next to KFC |
| Friday 6th to Sunday 8th November | The Hub Karen | The Piazza |
| Friday 13th to Sunday 15th November | Garden City Mall | Main entrance |
Each pop-up has virtual reality games, a dance challenge and a photo booth, and the first 100 visitors at the Junction on Friday 23rd October get a free Samosa Crunch. There’s also a shop with a limited clothing range made with home_254, the Nairobi brand that designed Team Kenya’s travel kits for the Paris Olympics. The 254 in its name is Kenya’s dialling code. KFC hasn’t given opening hours or clothing prices.
If you want to be sure of getting in, buy a Kentucky Town meal at a KFC counter from Tuesday 20th October and keep the receipt. If you order on the app, Glovo or Uber Eats, keep the digital receipt too, but don’t rely on it until KFC says it works. That’s an odd gap for a campaign whose own poster tells you to visit KFC.ke, and KFC can close it before launch day.
