Redmi K100 launches with a 10,000mAh battery and separate D2 gaming chip

Xiaomi has put a 10,000mAh battery in the standard Redmi K100, alongside a separate gaming chip and a screen that refreshes up to 165 times a second. Announced in China on 27th October 2026, with sales starting on 31st October, the phone brings that capacity to the entry model in Redmi’s K100 flagship family.

The appeal is straightforward: more battery capacity for a phone built around gaming. Xiaomi’s official product material also makes a distinction buyers should understand before looking at frame-rate figures. Some games run at high frame rates natively; others use the extra chip to generate intermediate images. Some advertised modes are still waiting for game updates.

Redmi is Xiaomi’s phone brand, and the K100 sits below the K100 Pro and Pro Max. This is not Xiaomi’s first 10,000mAh phone. Back in August, we covered the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max with the same headline capacity. The K100 puts that battery size together with a flagship processor and dedicated gaming hardware in the standard K model.

What the second chip does

The main processor is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite, which runs the operating system and games, including their graphics through its integrated Adreno GPU. Despite the new phone, this is the chip Qualcomm introduced on 21st October 2024. Buyers should recognise which generation they are getting.

The separate D2 chip handles image processing for supported games. Xiaomi lists upscaling, which reconstructs a higher-resolution image from a lower-resolution render, and frame interpolation, which creates extra images between rendered frames. The idea is to deliver sharper-looking graphics and smoother motion while reducing the work needed to render every displayed frame in full.

A native 165fps mode means the game renders 165 frames each second. An interpolated 165fps output includes generated frames. Those extra images can make movement look smoother, but the displayed figure does not tell you the game’s underlying rendering rate or how quickly it responds to your input. Frame generation and latency are separate engineering concerns, so a higher output number alone cannot establish better control response.

Xiaomi advertises more than 40 games with native 165fps adaptation and more than 100 with 165fps frame interpolation. Its footnotes say some require subsequent updates expected no later than late November 2026, with actual timing subject to official notices. That includes the native 165fps mode shown for the Chinese mobile version of Valorant, a competitive shooter. Buyers need to check their particular game and installed version before expecting the advertised mode.

A large battery, with the usual testing caveats

The 10,000mAh figure is typical capacity; the rated figure is 9,800mAh. Xiaomi uses a silicon-carbon battery, whose anode mixes silicon into the material that stores lithium to fit more capacity into the available space. Xiaomi quotes 957Wh/L, a measure of energy stored per unit of volume.

Xiaomi’s 2.43-day endurance figure comes from its own laboratory usage test. It is not a promise of two days of continuous gaming, and we have not tested the K100 ourselves.

Charging is 100W wired, with a 100W charger included, plus up to 27W reverse wired charging for powering another compatible device. Xiaomi specifies that 100W describes charger output; actual charging power varies with conditions. There is no wireless charging. Bypass charging, intended to power the phone directly during plugged-in use, is included within the Smart charging setting.

The rest of the official specifications describe a sizeable phone: 234.5g and 8.65mm thick. The flat 6.83-inch AMOLED screen, whose pixels emit their own light, has a 2772 x 1280 resolution. Cameras are a 50MP main unit with optical stabilisation to counter hand movement, an 8MP ultrawide and a 20MP front camera. It ships with Xiaomi’s HyperOS 4 software.
