Airtel Kenya has officially launched a revamped lineup of its Amazing Data Bundles. Although the rollout hasn’t gone live yet, the company has already updated its official FAQs with the new portfolio, giving customers an early look at what’s changing.
At first glance, Airtel appears to be adding more value to its data offerings. But a closer look reveals a more nuanced picture. While subscribers who prefer monthly bundles are getting sizeable increases in data, some of the telco’s most popular daily and weekly plans are being trimmed, some by as much as 50%.
Coming just days after Airtel revised its Airtel Money-to-M-PESA transfer charges, the timing is hard to ignore. Rather than applying a blanket price increase across its services, Airtel appears to be shifting value within its ecosystem, rewarding some customers while asking others to accept less.
Some Airtel customers are winning big…
The biggest beneficiaries are undoubtedly subscribers who prefer monthly bundles. For the same prices, Airtel is increasing data allocations on several popular plans.
| Bundle | Current | New |
|---|---|---|
| KES 500 | 7.5GB | 8GB |
| KES 1,000 | 18GB | 25GB |
| KES 2,000 | 40GB | 55GB |
The KES 1,000 plan receives one of the biggest upgrades, jumping by nearly 40%, while the KES 2,000 option gains an extra 15GB without costing customers an additional shilling. However, they’ve also scrapped the KES 1,500 plan that offered 20GB and the KES 3,000 plan for 50GB.

These are meaningful improvements for subscribers who primarily buy monthly bundles.
…but daily and weekly users won’t be celebrating
The story changes dramatically once you look at Airtel’s daily and weekly offers. Several of the telco’s most popular bundles are shrinking considerably, as seen in the table below.
| Bundle | Current | New |
|---|---|---|
| KES 50 Daily | 2GB | 1GB |
| KES 99 Daily | 4GB | 2.4GB |
| KES 250 Weekly | 8GB | 5GB |
| KES 500 Weekly | 20GB | 12GB |
That’s a reduction of between 37% and 50%, depending on the bundle. For customers who routinely buy these packages, the refresh may not feel like an upgrade at all. Interestingly, Airtel is also introducing a new KES 10 daily bundle offering 70MB for 24 hours, giving lighter users another low-cost option. There’s also an additional 50MB for the entry-level weekly bundle for the same KES 50 price.
There’s a new Happy Hour bundle
One of the genuinely exciting additions is Airtel’s new Hourly Bundle. Starting July 22, customers will be able to purchase a KES 15 bundle whose value depends on the time of day.
- Between 4:00 PM and 10:59 PM: 250MB valid for one hour.
- Between 11:00 PM and 3:59 PM: 1GB valid for one hour.
The offer officially becomes a permanent part of Airtel’s Amazing portfolio from midnight. Here’s a screenshot of the revamped Airtel Amazing Data Bundles:

Airtel is also making Amazing Bundles smarter
The changes aren’t limited to data allocations. According to Airtel’s updated FAQs, the revamped Amazing Bundles will include several quality-of-life features that frequent buyers always want. Among them:
- Unused Amazing Bundle data will continue to roll over.
- Customers can gift Amazing Bundles to other Airtel subscribers.
- Monthly bundles can extend the validity of both monthly and weekly bundles.
- Weekly bundles can also extend monthly and weekly bundles.
- Daily bundles can only be extended by purchasing the same daily bundle again.
- Any unused resources remain available after extending an eligible bundle.
These features make the portfolio considerably more flexible, especially for subscribers who top up before their existing bundles expire.
But whether subscribers see these changes as an upgrade or a downgrade will largely depend on how they buy their data. If you’re a monthly bundle user, Airtel is giving you considerably more for your money. But if you rely on daily or weekly bundles, you may find yourself paying the same amount for significantly less data.
That makes this one of Airtel Kenya’s most consequential data bundle refreshes in recent years. Not because prices have gone up across the board, but because the value proposition has changed depending on the kind of customer you are. When the new portfolio goes live at midnight, it’s the daily and weekly users who will likely be scrutinising the changes most closely.
