WhatsApp Status Updates Now 60 Seconds Long

WhatsApp now allows users to post 60-second clips on WhatsApp Status. This update doubles the previous 30-second limit, aligning with the duration offered by Instagram Stories. If you’ll remember, many years ago, the feature was what made Snapchat what it was before other companies copied it and brought it to all their apps. Nowadays, it is the most used feature on platforms like WhatsApp and Instagram.

This extended WhatsApp Status video limit promises a smoother experience for sharing longer moments in your life. People are no longer forced to post multiple 30-second clips in sequence when trying to share longer videos.

However, do note that WhatsApp is rolling out this feature gradually, so it might not be available to everyone immediately. Make sure your WhatsApp app is updated to the latest version for the best chance of accessing this new capability. Others who want to view your longer status videos will also need updated versions of the app.

More Exciting WhatsApp Updates

WhatsApp has been on a roll with updates in the past few months. There’s a whole new look of the app with new navigation at the bottom of the screen on Android, and new colour schemes on iOS. There’ve also been a whole list of features including:

  • WhatsApp Channels: Businesses and public figures can create verified channels (similar to Telegram), allowing massive audience reach. You can follow the Techish Channel.
  • Disappearing Messages by Default: Ensure private conversations by setting disappearing messages as the default for new chats.
  • Multiple Accounts: Users can now have two or more WhatsApp accounts within a single WhatsApp app.
  • Increased Privacy Controls: Features like “Silence Unknown Callers” and “Privacy Checkup” empower you to customize who can see your activity and how they contact you.
  • Improved Business Features: WhatsApp continues to improve tools for business accounts, including “WhatsApp Flows” for automation and “Meta Verified” badges.

How to Get the Latest WhatsApp Features

To make sure you’re always up to date with new features being introduced or previewed, there are a few easy steps you can take. First, enable automatic updates for WhatsApp in your phone’s app store settings – be it Google Play or iOS App Store. This way, updates will download and install in the background whenever available.

If you prefer a more hands-on approach, you can manually check for updates. Simply open your app store (Google Play Store for Android or App Store for iPhone), search for “WhatsApp,” and tap the “Update” button if a new version is available.

For those who want to be in the test group, consider joining the WhatsApp beta program. Beta testers get sneak peeks at new features before they are widely released. Just keep in mind that beta versions can sometimes be less stable than the standard app.
